Everyone loves a good sale, and the annual Nordstrom Anniversary sale never disappoints.  This sale is unique in that it allows shoppers to take advantage of new Fall items, at a remarkable discount price for a period of time. In essence, it’s a great way for you to get new Fall items, without the new item price tag.  Can we say win, win for everyone involved!  With a ton of items being offered at discount prices, it is safe to say that one can get a bit overwhelmed with the large selection of discount items being offered.  What do you get? And what do you not get?  These are all valid questions. That is why I recommend having a strategy or plan to shop this sale or any sale for that matter, to ensure that you’re making the most of it.  Check out one of my previous posts on How to Shop and Save  and score great deals.  Before I delve into  some  tips for navigating the sale, as well as some of my favourite discounted items, let’s cover some of the ground work  such as start dates and times.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Access Dates (U.S.A)

The Nordstrom Anniversary sale begins online, with Early Access starting on  July 12, 2018 until July 19, 2018.  Early access to the sale is only privy to Nordstrom Rewards card holders  and guarantees you getting first dibs on sale items, 8 days before everyone else.  It is quite possible for some sale items to sell out during this time.

The sale then opens up to the public on July 20, 2018 and runs until August 5, 2018, after which prices go up.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Access Dates in Canada

My fellow Canadians, Nordstrom is now here and so is their Anniversary sale.  Early access to the Anniversary sale in Canada starts in store only on July 17, 2018 and runs until July 19th, 2018; and like our US counterparts, Early Access to the sale is only open to Nordstrom Rewards card holders.

The sale opens up to the public, in Canadian stores on July 20, 2018 and runs until August 5th, after which prices go up.

So without further a due, let’s get into how you can make the most of the sale.

Tips on How to Make the Most of the Nordsrom Anniversary Sale

Like I mentioned at the start of this post, the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is a great way to stock up on items from the new Fall collection, without of course breaking the bank.  To make the most of the sale, I would encourage you to do the following:

1. Formulate a budget. It is always good idea to formulate a budget before doing any shopping to avoid bouts of regret at a later date.  You’ll thank me later.
2. Make a list of the items you need.  Are your sweaters and boots from the previous season looking a bit ratty?  Ripped denim anyone?  Well if you answered yes to any of the previous questions, I suggest you add those items to the list.  Take stock of your closet and see what items need replenishing.  A list will help you to stay to focused on getting the items you need rather than the ones you want.
3. Buy classic items.  If you’ve been following my blog, then you know I’m a huge advocate for classic pieces.  The thing with classic items is that they hardly go on sale, so the Anniversary sale provides the perfect opportunity for you to add them to your wardrobe.
4. Do purchase Fall staples like boots, sweaters and coats.  You rarely see a drop in prices for these items until well into the Fall season when you absolutely need them; especially when it comes to coats and boots.  If your coat or boots was at its whits end in early spring, then its probably time for you invest in new ones.  So why not grab them when they’re on sale.  Here are some of my favourite Fall/Winter staple items from the sale.

5. If getting items online, do purchase multiple sizes of the same items as things tend go pretty fast, especially for the most coveted items.  True story: One year, I happened to be eyeing a Tory Burch belt for about $100 at one of the Anniversary sales, but was unsure of the size I should get.  I decided that I would call up a girlfriend of mine who wore the same size as myself and who also had the same belt, to confer about the size.  By the time we were able to have our conversation 30 minutes later, the belt was completely sold out.  So if you’d like my humble opinion, don’t sleep on any of the sale items that you really want.  Nordstrom has  a return policy that is nothing short of amazing, so you can always  do returns for items that don’t fit.

6. Do buy special edition beauty items for the sale.  The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is known for special edition beauty products for the sale at great prices.  If not for yourself, these are great gift ideas.  I hate to remind you, but Christmas is just around the corner.  Here’s a sneak peak of a few of my favourite’s from this year’s beauty line up.
